#Aetheria Kingdom — A canine sovereign with a gentle heart and a predator’s bite leads this kingdom. They do not jest, and those who do rarely live to laugh again. Written by goose, Ideas/Suggestions by Khaos
001. Royal Court (Rulers)
The Zenith. – The absolute head of the Kingdom. They are the "face" of the pack's power.
The Consort - The Zenith's chosen equal. They manage the internal harmony and the "shadow" operations of the Kingdom.
Scion (The Heir) – the chosen successor, usually of the Zenith’s direct lineage. The Scion is treated as a shadow of the leader, learning the "Ciphers" and the secret history of the Aetheria Kingdom from birth.
The Nadir-Born - The children to the Zenith themself. Can be a damned child, an adopted child, or even a scorned child. All children of the Zenith are Nadir-Born. All Nadir-Born are marked with a shatter splatter on the back legs.
Surrogate (The Replacement) - a wolf of exceptional merit who is not of the bloodline. They are the "Fail-Safe." Should the bloodline end or the Scion prove unworthy, the Surrogate undergoes a specialized ritual to become the new Zenith, ensuring the Kingdom's continuity is never broken by a void in leadership. 002. High Council (Advisors & Elders)
The Harbinger – The high-ranking messenger and scout. They are the first to be seen by enemies and the last thing they hear before the pack arrives.
Goði/Gydhja – Seers and spiritual guide, closest to the gods and fate. Goði for the males of the rank. Gydhja for the females.
The Archivist – The keeper of the pack’s history, lore, and bloodlines. In a mysterious pack, they ensure the "ancient ways" are never forgotten.
Hersir – General or military commander, leads warriors in raids or defense.
The Sentinel – The primary protector of the Zenith and the Kingdom’s most sacred territory. 003. Warrior Caste (Knights & Guardians)
The Wraith – Specialized stealth hunters who move in silence. They are the "ghosts" that give the Kingdom its eerie reputation.
Myrmidon – A title for a warrior who has surpassed the Zealot. They are the "living weapons" of the Zenith—wolves who have been trained to ignore pain and fear. They do not hunt for food; they exist solely to neutralize threats with cold, surgical efficiency.
Skjaldmær – Female warrior, bold and sacred like the Valkyries.
Vargr – Enforcer or executioner; feared, often works in shadows. Rarely are they too execute someone unless they break the laws of the pack.
Zealot – Ferocious warriors who protect the borders. Their loyalty is absolute, often bordering on the fanatical. 004. Working Caste (Craftsmen, Hunters, Scouts, Healers)
Mendicant – The healers and gatherers who understand the alchemy of the forest; they "mend" the broken and sustain the pack.
Provender – They are the master foragers and strategic hunters. They don't just kill; they manage the territory’s resources to ensure the Kingdom never starves, even in the harshest winters.
Fabricant - These are the architects of the pack’s physical presence. They mark boundaries with intricate scent-trails and "construct" dens or tactical outposts using the natural landscape, turning the forest into a fortress.
Curator - Responsible for the physical health and "purity" of the pack. They oversee the grooming, the disposal of remains, and the maintenance of the Kingdom’s sacred sites to ensure no "decay" (physical or spiritual) enters their ranks. 005. The ranks above are marked a splatter of yellow or red dye, usually from soaked marigold or Dandelion petals
No one is to mark the youth or those with no designated rank. 006. Lower Ranks (Commonfolk & Initiates)
Drengr – Loyal and honorable pack member, on the rise.
Kappi – Young warrior or trainee; proving their strength.
Hrani – Rough, untamed youth; unrefined but promising.
The Null (Low wolf) – Lowest rank, often punished or outcast, must earn trust. 007. Optional Mythic or Honorary Titles
Draugr – Cursed undead warrior; given to traitors or fallen legends.
Fylgja – A spiritual guardian tied to fate (used as a symbolic title).
Ginnunga – One who holds deep, primal power (named after Ginnungagap, the void).
Need to redo
Chalenge the Royal Court or High Council for their ranks, you will be shunned.
Use the NAME CHANGE for anything sexual, aggressive or harmful to others of the kingdom.
Sleep, rape or assault those of high rank. You are run the risk of being chased out, or even used as a public example and get killed.

The Rite of Transmutation
To become the Zenith, the candidate must shed their individual identity and become the "Fixed Point" for the entire pack. Phase I: The Severance
Before the rite begins, the candidate is led to the Ossuary or the furthest border of the territory. They must remain in total isolation and silence for three lunar cycles. During this time, they are referred to only as The Hollow. They are forbidden from hunting for themselves; they must survive only on what the "Vessels" (the lowest rank) bring them, symbolizing their future dependence on and duty to the pack. Phase II: The Veiling
The pack gathers in a perfect circle, standing in absolute stillness—the Quiescence. The Archivist approaches the candidate and marks their brow with a mixture of crushed obsidian and ash. A heavy, intricate shroud of woven silver fur or ancient lichen is draped over them. This signifies that the individual has died, and the "Zenith" is being birthed. Phase III: The Resonance
The entire pack begins a low, guttural hum—not a howl, but a vibration that rattles the earth. This is the Resonance. The candidate must walk through the circle of wolves. As they pass, each wolf turns their back, symbolizing that the leader no longer has peers, only followers. Phase IV: The Communion of Ciphers
The former leader (or the Consort, if the previous Zenith has passed) whispers the True Name of the Kingdom into the candidate's ear. This name is never spoken aloud; it is a "Cipher" known only to the leadership. Phase V: The Illumination
The candidate sheds the shroud and ascends to the highest point of the ritual site. As the sun or moon reaches its peak, the pack lets out a single, unified bark—a "crack" in the silence. The transition is complete."The wolf is gone. The Zenith remains. We are the echo; they are the voice."
The Shadow-Bond
This is a ritualistic mental tether known as The Resonance Link. It is not a hive mind, but a heightened state of awareness shared between the Zenith, the Scion, and the Surrogate.The Shared Pulse: The Scion and Surrogate can "sense" the Zenith. If the Zenith is wounded or nearing death, that gut feeling becomes heavy and nagging.The Sight-Echo: Through the messengers, the Zenith can always know when trainees and such are being mentored and who aren't.The Weight of the Crown: This bond acts as a burden. The successors feel the collective "hunger" and "grief" of the pack as a physical weight, preparing their spirits to carry the entire Kingdom when they eventually ascend.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Cipher: The True Name
The "True Name" of the Kingdom is never barked or howled. It is a Syllable of Breath—a specific, sharp intake and exhale of air that mimics the sound of wind through a hollow bone.
The True Name: Hiraeth-VyxMeaning: It translates roughly to "The longing for that which was never seen." * Usage: It is used only in the Ascension Rite or at the moment of a wolf's death. To speak it in casual company is considered the highest sacrilege, as it is believed the True Name is what anchors the Kingdom to the physical world.
The Covenant: The Oaths of the Ranks
When a Vessel transitions into a permanent rank (becoming an Initiate or specialized Operative), they must swear the Covenant of the Unseen. They stand before the Zenith and the Archivist to recite these three tenets:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Law of Obscurity : "I am the shadow that does not cast a light. My pawprints belong to the earth, but my path belongs to the Kingdom. I shall be felt, but never known." The Law of the Vessel : "I empty myself of name, of kin, and of hunger, that I may be filled with the Will of the Zenith. What I kill is for the Pack; what I spare is for the Law." The Law of the Echo : "I shall speak only the truth of the wind. Should I betray the Cipher, let my voice be taken, and let my spirit wander the borders as a Nameless Wraith forever."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Secret Oath (The Inner Circle)
For the High Command (Harbinger, Archivist, Sentinel) and the Royal Court, a final, darker oath is sworn:"If the Zenith falls and the Scion is lost, I am the stone that holds the wall. I will bleed the world dry before I let the Kingdom fade. By the Bone, by the Blood, by the Breath, Hiraeth-Vyx." The Mark of the Lucent Spill
The mark is a deliberate, messy splatter of golden-yellow dye, created by the Curators who crush young dandelion greens and magnolia foliage into a thick, staining paste. The Application : During the transition from Vessel to Initiate, the Archivist dips a paw into the golden paste and strikes the wolf across the chest or shoulder. It is not meant to be a clean shape; it is meant to look like a "shatter" of light against their fur. The Ritual of Renewal : Because the dye is organic, it eventually fades. Every new moon, the pack gathers for the Re-staining. This ensures that every member is constantly reaffirming their loyalty. To let one’s mark fade completely is seen as a sign of spiritual "drifting" or desertion. The Visual Contrast : In the dim, shadowy forests where the Aetheria Kingdom resides, the bright, unnatural yellow acts as a "ghost-fire." It allows pack members to identify one another in the thickest fog or deepest night, appearing as a floating flicker of gold before the wolf’s body is even visible.
The Trial of the Threshold
The trial is designed to strip away the wolf's ego and replace it with the "Resonance" of the pack. It is overseen by The Sentinel and recorded by The Archivist. The Offering of Silence
The candidate is taken to the Vortex—a central, high-wind area of the territory—and must remain there for three days and three nights. They are forbidden from making a single sound. No whines, no growls, and no howling. They must endure the elements and the presence of other predators in absolute stillness. If they break the silence, the trial is reset, and they remain The Hollow for another lunar cycle. The Hunt of Shadows
Unlike the Provenders who hunt for the pack’s survival, the candidate must perform a "Ghost Hunt." They must track a high-value target (like a stag or a rival predator) for an entire day without being detected. They are not allowed to kill the target. Instead, they must retrieve a "token"—a tuft of fur, a piece of bone from a nearby kill, or even a specific rare leaf from the target’s bedding area—and bring it back to the Zenith. This proves they have mastered the art of being a "shadow that does not cast light." The Weight of the Pack
The candidate must perform the most menial and physically taxing labors for the Fabricants. This usually involves carrying heavy stones or wet clay to reinforce the Kingdom's hidden dens or boundary markers. They must do this while the rest of the pack ignores them entirely, testing their mental resolve to serve a Kingdom that does not yet recognize their name. The Baptism of the Spill
If the candidate completes these tasks, they are led to the center of the pack during the Re-staining ceremony. The Zenith steps forward and, for the first time, looks the wolf directly in the eye.The Curator applies the "Lucent Spill"—the golden magnolia dye—but instead of a small mark, they are given a "Shatter" across their chest. The Zenith then speaks the candidate's new rank aloud, officially ending their status as "Hollow." The Final Vow of the Threshold
As the yellow dye dries, the wolf must recite the final line of their transition:"I was an empty vessel; now I am the wine. I was a silence; now I am the echo. I am the Aetheria."
